Chief Justice Praises GTEC for Higher Education Reform
The Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has expressed his support for the Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Professor Ahmed Jinapor, and his team for their efforts in sanitising the tertiary education space.
During a courtesy visit to Prof. Jinapor and his team at the GTEC office in Accra, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie stated, “This sanitisation exercise that is going on is good. If you have not got public support for it, you should know that silently, there are lots and lots of people who may not be able to come out, but we all support you. So, continue with it.”
The Chief Justice also congratulated Prof. Jinapor on the good work he is doing and encouraged him to continue with the sanitation exercise, citing the prevalence of unearned titles in the country.
Prof. Jinapor responded by thanking the Chief Justice for his visit and assured him that GTEC is ready to work with his outfit to revolutionise legal education in Ghana.
He also hinted at the commission’s discovery of individuals in the legal profession who lack the necessary qualifications, yet have been called to the Bar as lawyers, and promised to conduct investigations and bring those found guilty to justice.
