Former President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to serve as the Chief Guest at this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Mr. Mahama arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after midnight, Kenya time, and was warmly welcomed by the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs, H.E. Musalia Mudavadi, and other high-ranking Kenyan officials.

Jamhuri Day, celebrated annually on December 12th, is a pivotal national event in Kenya, marking the country’s independence and showcasing its vibrant cultural heritage. President Mahama’s presence underscores the strong ties between Ghana and Kenya.

Following the Jamhuri Day festivities on Friday, President Mahama is scheduled to attend a luncheon hosted by President William Samoei Ruto at State House. This meeting will provide a platform for crucial bilateral discussions between the two leaders, focusing on areas of mutual interest and collaboration.

Accompanying the former Ghanaian leader on this visit are Dr Callistus Mahama, his Executive Secretary, and Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations. They are expected to engage in meetings alongside the former President.

President Mahama is expected to depart Kenya on Saturday, bringing an end to his official visit. The visit is seen as a significant diplomatic engagement for both nations.
