The government is reaffirming its commitment to fully equipping Ghana’s security agencies as the country heads into the Christmas festivities. This assurance comes from Deputy Minister for Defence, Brogya Gyamfi.

Mr Gyamfi made these remarks during a large-scale ‘Show of Force’ exercise held in Accra today. He emphasized the government’s dedication to modernizing the nation’s security infrastructure.

“Government is fully committed to equipping our security services with the tools and logistics they require to boost efficiency and ensure the safety of all Ghanaians,” he stated.

The operation, a joint effort between the Ghana Armed Forces and the Police Service, also saw participation from the Immigration Service, Fire Service, and the Customs Division. It is part of wider security preparations for the upcoming Christmas season.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing over 140 security vehicles and 55 motorbikes traverse the capital’s main routes, a visible demonstration of force intended to reassure the public.

Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, issued a stern warning to potential criminals. “We want to caution all criminal-minded individuals to desist from unlawful activities. The Police Service is fully prepared to track down anyone who attempts to disturb the peace,” he said.

Lieutenant General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff, highlighted the ongoing nature of these security operations. “Sustaining these operations is crucial. Our next major exercise is scheduled for December 23. We are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all Ghanaians during the Christmas celebrations,” he explained.

According to security officials, the pre-Christmas drills aim to bolster public confidence, deter criminal activity, and guarantee maximum protection for citizens throughout the holiday period.
