The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is receiving heightened attention as Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Elena Márquez Mina, visited the historic site during her Ghana tour.

Officials believe the visit will significantly boost tourism and reinforce the enduring legacy of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, a renowned champion of African unity.

According to Collins Rawlings, the Executive Director of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the visit is more than just symbolic. He stated it reaffirms Nkrumah’s dedication to pan-Africanism and strengthens diplomatic ties between Ghana and Colombia as both nations seek increased collaboration.

“We have always hosted high-level visits to the country, but this is exceptional. The Vice President of Colombia’s visit reaffirms Kwame Nkrumah’s Pan-Africanist ideals. This engagement will help strengthen Ghana’s relationship with Colombia and boost tourism in Ghana,” Rawlings said.

He added that increased interest from global leaders elevates the Memorial Park’s status as a key tourist destination, providing a valuable platform to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

“This is where the story of Ghana’s independence is preserved,” he emphasized, underscoring the park’s vital role in promoting the nation’s history.

With the festive season underway, Mr. Rawlings is encouraging Ghanaians to visit the park with their families, noting that increased local patronage is crucial for supporting tourism and national development.

“As we enter the festive season, I want to encourage Ghanaians to visit the park with their families. Your patronage helps promote tourism and contributes directly to our national development,” Collins Rawlings added.

The visit by Vice President Márquez Mina serves as a powerful reminder of Ghana’s historic significance on the world stage and signals a renewed commitment to fostering stronger bilateral ties with Colombia.

Officials are optimistic that the positive momentum from this visit will translate into increased tourist arrivals and a greater appreciation for Ghana’s significant cultural heritage.
