Bawumia: NPP United for Common Goal

Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has strongly cautioned party members against divisive rhetoric based on background or religion, warning it harms the NPP’s image.

Addressing NPP members in Wa during his campaign tour of the Upper West Region, Dr. Bawumia expressed concern over recent comments suggesting a split within the party along the lines of “slaves” and “royals.” He firmly stated that the NPP is a unified community where all members are equal.

“There are no slaves and there are no royals in this party. We are all together as one. Nobody is higher than anybody else. We are all one,” Dr. Bawumia emphasized.

He further warned that such divisive statements are detrimental to the party’s reputation. “So all those people in our party making tribal and bigoted statements should stop, because their comments are not ruining Dr. Bawumia; they are ruining the image of the party,” he stated.

Dr. Bawumia appealed to all NPP members nationwide to reject divisive language and rally behind the party’s objectives. He stressed the importance of equality and unity within the NPP.

“We don’t need tribalism in our party. Let us all understand that we stand and serve on an equal basis. Nobody has any special entitlement simply because they come from one part of the country,” he said.

“We need unity in our party. We don’t need people dividing us on the basis of tribe or religion. These are alien to us. Let us all come together,” he added.

The former Vice President reiterated his commitment to respectful engagement and fostering unity as the party prepares for the future. He highlighted his own campaign approach as an example.

“I want to assure all of you that I know we need unity, and I am very committed to it. This is why, when I campaign, I don’t insult anybody. I don’t talk down to anyone. I speak with respect and deference to my opponents because I know that after the election, we will all have to come together and work hard for the party,” Dr. Bawumia explained.
