MIIF denies false tabloid accusations that it attempted to rewrite the 2024 audited report, calling the stories a coordinated smear campaign by former executives and board members.
The Minerals Income Investment Fund is currently in cordial negotiations with the Office of the Auditor‑General to finalise the 2024 audit report, ensuring the Management Letter’s observations are accurately reflected for public clarity.
Several tabloids have run fabricated headlines such as “Auditor‑General Blasts MIIF for Attempting to Rewrite 2024 Audited Report” and “Auditor‑General Takes MIIF CEO to the Cleaners,” despite no evidence of wrongdoing.
According to an unnamed source close to the campaign, the stories will continue unless the Fund’s CEO publishes the audit report on MIIF’s letterhead and posts it on the website by a set deadline.
“We do not care about how well she is doing in the Fund. All we want is the report out on MIIF’s website and if we do not see it, we will write all manner of fabricated stories against her,” the source said.
MIIF’s management stresses that the Fund has not altered any signed financial statements since its restructuring eleven months ago, and that all discussions with the Auditor‑General have been transparent and professional.
Investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor are underway against some former board members and executives alleged to have hired publishers for the smear campaign, while an editor of the offending tabloids reportedly admitted the pressure was intended to secure foreign travel approvals.
Independent analysts advise the public to disregard the fabricated reports, describing them as attempts to divert attention from lawful investigations and to undermine the Fund’s mandate to safeguard Ghana’s mineral revenues.
MIIF reaffirms its commitment to due process, transparency and the protection of mineral income for current and future generations, and will continue cooperating fully with the Auditor‑General.
