Ghana’s ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu, met Beijing’s public‑security chief Wang Yong on Monday to cement deeper security cooperation between the two nations.

During the high‑level talks, Bonsu reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with China, praising the long‑standing support Beijing has offered Ghana’s socio‑economic development.

“We appreciate China’s steadfast assistance and are eager to expand collaboration in new security domains,” Bonsu said. Wang Yong echoed the sentiment, noting China’s willingness to share expertise in policing, cybersecurity and crime prevention.

The discussion centred on boosting institutional capacity, expanding training exchanges and improving intelligence sharing to combat transnational crimes and emerging threats. Both sides highlighted the importance of mutual respect for sovereignty and ongoing dialogue.

Key areas identified include capacity‑building for Ghanaian law‑enforcement agencies, technical exchanges in cyber‑security, and best‑practice sharing to counter cross‑border offences.

“Our joint priorities—peacekeeping, counter‑terrorism and citizen protection—require concrete programmes,” Wang stated, adding that concrete initiatives are expected to roll out in the coming months.

Observers view the meeting as a practical step toward a safer, more prosperous future for both countries, reinforcing a partnership built on solidarity and shared prosperity.
