KAAF University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, Mrs Theresa Adusei Peasah Aidoo, has issued a passionate appeal to stop the discrimination and maltreatment of elderly widows during the institution’s annual donation ceremony at Mankessim Nkwanta in the Central Region.
Professor Aidoo decried the cruel treatment many elderly widows endure, including false witchcraft accusations and blame for their husbands’ deaths. “We must treat our widows with dignity and respect, especially the elderly ones who have contributed to our society,” she stated, condemning families who abandon widows to fend for themselves.
The event saw KAAF University collaborate with Nana Yaa Nyarkoah II, Queenmother of Mankessim Nkwanta, to distribute food items, clothing and essential supplies to widows and orphans. “We are committed to making a positive impact in our community,” Prof. Aidoo emphasized, highlighting the institution’s dedication to corporate social responsibility.
Queenmother Nana Yaa Nyarkoah II praised the partnership for boosting their annual outreach efforts. She appealed for job creation support: “We urge the university and other investors to help develop opportunities for our youth.”
Beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude, with one widow stating: “This support will help me care for my children.” Another added: “Today’s kindness has restored smiles our faces had long forgotten.”
