Kufuor Urges Unity to Strengthen the NPP

Politics

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put unity above all else as the party rebuilds its strength ahead of future elections.

Speaking on The Delay Show hosted by Deloris Frimpong Manso, Kufuor said internal rifts must be set aside and party members should rally around the principles and ideals that bind them.

“We might not be friends or allies, but because we all believe in the principles and ideals of the party, it is important to unite to push the party forward,” he stated.

The former president stressed that unity not only influences electoral outcomes but also shapes how well a party can govern. According to him, voters trust a party that speaks with one voice, and cohesion gives Ghanaians confidence that the party can deliver when given the mandate.

“Ghanaians appreciate unity. We will be able to serve Ghanaians better if we are united to serve them well when we win power,” Kufuor added.

Kufuor’s comments come as the NPP reorganises after its defeat in the 2024 general elections and prepares to elect its next flagbearer in January 2026. He warned that unity remains the party’s most powerful tool, determining not only future electoral success but also the quality of governance should the NPP return to power.

Party officials have echoed the call for cohesion, urging members to avoid internal tensions that have slowed progress and to work collectively towards the upcoming leadership contest.
