The Central East Regional Police Command has apprehended 33 suspects and seized numerous motorbikes in a pre-festive season crackdown on criminal activity around Kasoa.

The intelligence-led operation, carried out in the early hours of December 16 and 17, 2025, aims to proactively address potential security threats during the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities.

Raids targeted known hotspots including Kasoa Old Market, Awutu Breku, Gomoa Buduata, and Senya Breku. Police recovered illicit substances – suspected Indian hemp and Tramadol – alongside 45 motorbikes, which are currently undergoing documentation checks.

A single toy gun was also confiscated during the exercise. Authorities emphasized that all individuals currently in custody are being screened and those found culpable will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, issued a security advisory urging the public to be cautious. “We advise citizens to avoid carrying large sums of money in public, especially during this busy period,” he stated. “It’s also extremely important to avoid walking alone in secluded areas and to travel with company, particularly late at night.”

The Police Command further cautioned motorbike riders to strictly adhere to helmet laws and drivers to avoid speeding and driving under the influence. DSP Dosoo added, “Vigilance is key. Be aware of your surroundings at all times to prevent becoming a victim of opportunistic crime.”

The Regional Police Command has expressed gratitude for the continued cooperation of the public and pledged unwavering dedication to maintaining law and order throughout the festive season. They sternly warned that anyone contemplating criminal activity will be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.
