Entertainment

BackStage Africa held a successful inaugural “Basic Frameworks” workshop for artists and music professionals on Monday, December 8, 2025, at A and C Corner in East Legon.

The workshop provided an evening dedicated to knowledge sharing and crucial insights into the music industry.

Notable figures from Ghana’s music landscape attended, including artists Ko-Jo Cue and Bryan The Mensah, as well as producer Leonardoddj. A diverse group of music business executives, managers, entrepreneurs, and aspiring professionals also participated, gaining foundational knowledge to advance their careers.

The session featured presentations from three industry leaders: David-Clay Onah, Founder of Gold River Entertainment; Vincent Jaspa, Founder of A Little Operation and Manager of the 99PHACES collective; and James Akita, Manager of DopeNation.

Speakers shared candidly about their experiences, highlighting the core values that have shaped their careers, the challenges they’ve overcome, and the fundamental principles for those starting out in the music business.

“What we witnessed today was exactly what we envisioned, a room full of dreamers and doers, legends and newcomers, all speaking the same language of possibility,” stated Reginald Amaah, Founder of BackStage Africa. “The essence of this workshop is simple: you can’t build a skyscraper without a rock solid foundation. We are here to ensure that the foundation, in values, business, and craft, is unshakeable for every African creative.”

The workshop exemplified BackStage Africa’s commitment to bridging generational gaps within the industry, fostering a collaborative environment rather than a traditional lecture setting. Attendees actively engaged with the speakers, discussing topics such as artist development, effective management practices, A&R strategies, and the business skills needed for long-term success.

The positive reception to the first “Basic Frameworks” workshop solidifies BackStage Africa’s position as a growing force and a vital platform for music education and professional development in Ghana’s dynamic creative economy. Organizers have reaffirmed their dedication to addressing knowledge gaps and building connections between generations of music professionals.

BackStage Africa plans to host more workshops and industry events in the coming months, continuing its mission to empower emerging talent and strengthen Ghana’s music ecosystem. Follow BackStage Africa on social media for updates on future events.
