The Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF) will hold its inaugural Scholarship Beneficiaries Homecoming on December 16, 2025, at the Foundation’s Secretariat in Ntotroso.

According to a statement released on December 11, 2025, the event aims to unite current and former scholarship recipients to celebrate their accomplishments, foster connections, and explore collaborative opportunities for the betterment of the Ahafo Region.

NADeF describes the Homecoming as a landmark occasion in its journey as a leading corporate-community foundation in Ghana. The event marks over seventeen years of consistent progress, fueled by a robust partnership between Newmont Ghana Gold Limited (NGGL) and the Ahafo Social Responsibility Forum (ASRF).

The gathering will spotlight the positive impact of the foundation by showcasing beneficiaries who have become professionals in fields such as medicine, engineering, ICT, education, and entrepreneurship, both within Ghana and internationally. Several graduates are already making significant contributions in leadership positions across public service, academia, and industry.

To date, NADeF has invested GH₵42.8 million in scholarships and capacity-building initiatives, benefiting a total of 14,307 young individuals from its ten host communities. Of those, 7,855 are male (54.90%) and 6,452 are female (45.10%), underlining the Foundation’s dedication to gender equality and equitable growth.

The Foundation has also provided support to 7,862 students pursuing tertiary education, including degree, diploma, and professional certifications.

“These numbers are not just statistics,” NADeF Executive Secretary, Elizabeth Opoku-Darko, emphasised. “They represent transformed lives, strengthened families, and communities whose horizons continue to expand.”

She further added that the Homecoming is a powerful platform. “It’s more than a ceremonial gathering; it’s an opportunity for beneficiaries to reconnect, share experiences, explore opportunities, and build collaborations that can transform our communities”, she explained.

NADeF intends to remind beneficiaries of their crucial role in upholding the Foundation’s legacy, describing them as “true legacy” and encouraging them to contribute to their communities and inspire future generations. Beneficiaries based outside the region or overseas are particularly welcomed to participate.

The December 16th event is expected to invigorate beneficiary involvement, boost collaboration, and create a lasting impact on communities, reinforcing NADeF’s commitment to sustainable development through empowered individuals.
