SSNIT Assures Workers of Affordable Pricing on Premium Housing Projects

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust says its premium residential properties currently on the market are competitively priced to make them accessible to prospective buyers, particularly workers contributing to the pension scheme.

Speaking to journalists after a media tour of several SSNIT residential developments in Accra on Thursday, Public Affairs Manager Lord Koramoa said the Trust had deliberately targeted workers and contributors in marketing the properties, as part of efforts to ensure contributors benefited directly from the Trust’s investment portfolio.

“At SSNIT, we collect contributions from workers and when we collect these contributions, we invest them in various classes of investment,” Mr Koramoa explained. The housing projects form part of that broader strategy, with returns generated through property sales intended to bolster pension sustainability.

The Trust said it had engaged the Ghana Employers Association and labour unions to publicise the housing projects to workers across the country. “We put it out in the market, also knowing very well that workers would have to buy these facilities,” Mr Koramoa noted.

Addressing affordability concerns, Mr Koramoa said the SSNIT Board had taken the target market into consideration before setting prices. “I can assure you that these apartments are fairly priced and very competitively priced. We know very well what the target market is, so the Board took into consideration the target market,” he said.

The media tour showcased four residential developments. Meridian Gardens in Klagon and Community 19 in Tema offer two and three-bedroom apartments in middle-class gated estates, with 152 available units featuring fitted kitchens, backup water systems, generators, and paved roads.

Eagles Place at Sakumono comprises 40 detached and semi-detached three-bedroom townhouses with maids’ rooms, a multi-purpose sports court, swimming pool, and communal recreational spaces. The Royal Tivoli Apartments, also in Sakumono, is a middle-class gated estate of four-storey apartment blocks with modern kitchen and sanitary facilities, offering 55 units.

At the top end of the market, the Adinkra Heights estate at Switchback in Cantonments is a luxury gated development of two, three, and four-bedroom fitted apartments with air conditioners, elevators, backup water supply, and enhanced security. Twenty-seven apartments are currently available.

Mr Koramoa reiterated SSNIT’s commitment to prudent investments that would secure strong returns for contributors while responding to Ghana’s growing housing needs. Interested buyers can visit the SSNIT sales office at Ridge Towers in Accra for acquisition details.
