During the confrontation, one of the motorcyclists sustained injuries before fleeing the scene, allegedly threatening to return with reinforcements. True to the threat, the individual later reappeared accompanied by a group of men, some of whom were reportedly armed with cutlasses and a pump-action shotgun.

The situation escalated rapidly when one of the assailants discharged the shotgun, striking Officer Agyapong in the right thigh. The attackers also fired a warning shot before fleeing the area, complicating immediate pursuit efforts by local residents.
