Franco International School’s captain Righteous Adu was crowned the best player of the 2025 Milo U‑13 Champions League despite his side falling short in the final.
The tournament, held this December after a six‑year hiatus, saw over one hundred thousand pupils from sixteen schools compete under the theme “Raising Champions Together”.
Although Franco lost to the eventual champions, Adu shared the top‑scorer award with Enoch Baahaski of St Francis Roman Catholic School, who netted six goals.
Speaking to Luv FM, the 13‑year‑old declared, “I am to win these awards but this is too small for me. I want to train hard and become the best player in the world. I want to win more Ballon d’Ors than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Co‑coach of Franco International School, Mr Kwabena Mensah, praised Adu’s talent, saying he “has a rare blend of skill and determination that already sets him apart at this age.”
Fans and peers echoed his ambition, with many noting his electrifying runs and decisive plays throughout the competition.
The Milo U‑13 Champions League, revived after a six‑year break, aims to nurture grassroots talent across Ghana, and Adu’s performance underscores the tournament’s success in spotlighting future stars.
As the season progresses, scouts from top academies are expected to monitor Adu closely, and the young captain hopes his next goal will be a professional contract that propels him toward his world‑class dream.
