Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has urged staff of the Legon Tax Service Centre to be more proactive in tax collection, stressing the vital link between revenue generation and national development.
During a recent engagement with the team, Dr. Forson charged them to take full responsibility for achieving their targets and to consciously broaden the tax base.
“I charged the officers to take ownership of their targets and be deliberate in expanding the tax net,” he stated.
According to the Minister, effective domestic resource mobilization is crucial for financing essential public services and sustaining Ghana’s development agenda.
“Ghana needs the revenue, and the work they do is critical to funding public services and driving national development,” Dr. Forson noted.
He further emphasized the need for discipline, focus, and unwavering commitment among tax officers to successfully meet the nation’s revenue objectives.
“With focus, discipline, and commitment, we can mobilise the resources required to support growth, deliver essential services, and secure a stronger future for our country,” he added.
Dr. Forson encouraged all tax officers to perform their duties with diligence and a strong sense of responsibility, emphasizing that increased revenue collection is fundamental to economic stability and improving the living standards of Ghanaians.
