Gospel stalwart Eno Tiwaa, long‑time caretaker and vocalist for Yaw Sarpong & Asamofo, died in the early hours of Sunday, 7 December 2025.
Group manager Nana Poku Ashis said Tiwaa had been unwell for a couple of weeks before her passing. “She fought bravely, but her health deteriorated quickly,” he stated.
For four decades, Tiwaa contributed immensely to the Yaw Sarpong & Asamofo ensemble, ensuring the veteran singer remained in good condition. Ashis added that her selflessness and sacrifices will be remembered forever.
In recent years, Tiwaa personally cared for Yaw Sarpong, who has also been battling illness. Her dedication behind the scenes kept the group’s performances on track.
Renowned for her silky voice, Tiwaa was hailed by many music lovers as one of Ghana’s golden voices. In 2021 she earned her first nomination in the 3Music Awards’ Female Vocalist category.
At the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards on 10 May, she delivered a spectacular performance after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of Yaw Sarpong and Asamofo.
Fans and fellow musicians mourn the loss of a true gospel icon, while celebrating a legacy that shaped Ghanaian gospel music for over forty years.
