Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, is scheduled to provide a crucial update on the case involving former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, during a briefing on Wednesday, December 18, as part of the Government Accountability Series.

Dr. Ayine will also detail significant recoveries made by the government in its ongoing battle against cybercrime. This briefing aims to offer clarity on the current status of the legal proceedings concerning Mr. Ofori-Atta, and highlight the measures taken to safeguard state finances and promote accountability.

According to Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the update will centre around verifiable facts, demonstrable progress, and concrete outcomes. “The public deserves transparency on matters of national interest,” he stated in a Facebook post.

“This is about accountability and restoring confidence in the justice system,” Kwakye Ofosu added. He further revealed that considerable assets have been recovered through diligent investigations and prosecutions related to cybercrime.

The government, he assured, remains dedicated to bolstering both legal frameworks and institutional capacities to effectively combat digital fraud. “We are seeing real results, and we will continue to protect the public purse and citizens from cybercriminal activity,” Kwakye Ofosu emphasized.

The Government Accountability Series is a key initiative geared towards keeping Ghanaians informed about high-profile cases and the results of enforcement efforts.
