Roads and Highways Minister, Kwame Agbodza, has lauded Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, for what he describes as unprecedented payments to road contractors and service providers.
According to Mr Agbodza, Dr Forson has disbursed more funds to contractors in recent months than any other Finance Minister in Ghana’s history.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, the Roads Minister stated that these timely payments have significantly accelerated road construction and maintenance projects nationwide.
He emphasized the direct impact of this financial commitment on project completion and overall efficiency within the transport sector. “Dr Ato Forson’s proactive approach has helped reduce the bottlenecks often caused by delayed funding,” he said.
The Minister further highlighted that the increased funding has bolstered contractor confidence, leading to improved and more timely project delivery. He believes that this collaborative effort between the Finance Ministry and implementing agencies could be a template for development in other sectors.
Mr Agbodza concluded that the record payments demonstrate the government’s dedication to improving infrastructure and supporting the private sector. He urged continued efficiency and accountability to ensure these investments benefit Ghanaians.
