Ghana’s Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has tipped England as the favourites to top Group L in the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw.

The draw was held on Friday at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., where Ghana was placed alongside the Three Lions, Croatia and Panama.

England were the 2018 World Cup finalists, Croatia reached the semi‑finals in Qatar 2022, while Panama will be making only their second appearance at the sport’s biggest tournament.

“I look forward to every game as special,” Addo said, adding that it is “very important for us that we don’t underrate any team.”

“For sure, England is the favourite in that group, but for me as a coach, to be honest, I’m looking at each and every game equally,” the coach explained.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on Wednesday, 17 June, before facing England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June.

The Black Stars have exited at the group stage in each of their last two World Cup outings, prompting a desire to break the pattern in the United States.

With the tournament fast approaching, Addo and his squad hope to translate the coach’s confidence into a historic run that will thrill Ghanaian fans at home and abroad.
