CIHRM has inaugurated its Sunyani Chapter at the Bono Regional CIHRM Conference, drawing the Sunyanihene, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, Regional Minister Joseph Akwaboah, University of Energy and Natural Resources Vice‑Chancellor Professor Elvis Asare‑Bediako, HR practitioners, business leaders and academic faculty.

The new chapter is the latest step in CIHRM’s plan to establish a presence in every regional capital, extending its regulatory and capacity‑building role across Ghana.

Speaking on the theme “The Future of Work in Ghana: Navigating Digital Transformation and Changing Workforce Dynamics,” CEO Dr Francis Eduku warned that digital transformation, new work models and sustainability pressures are reshaping the labour market.

He noted that while youth constitute a large share of the population, many lack the competencies needed for the emerging world of work, and urged the government to prioritise investment in human‑capital development to harness advances in technology and artificial intelligence.

“The Institute is not only the regulator of the people‑management profession in Ghana, but a catalyst for national transformation. We continue to train future‑ready HR professionals, and are currently working with the University of Ghana to establish an HR Professorial Chair to conduct research that will inform labour policies and effective human‑capital management practices,” Dr Eduku said.

Regional Minister Joseph Akwaboah challenged HR professionals to lead the digital transformation and boost workforce productivity, stressing that the Institute remains a critical partner in Ghana’s economic transformation.

“The Institute’s role in standardising HR practices, developing HR professionals and guiding ethical workplace conduct remains crucial as the country navigates the new world of work,” the Minister added.

Vice‑Chancellor Professor Elvis Asare‑Bediako urged the Institute to focus on skills that will be relevant in the future and called for stronger collaboration between industry and academia.

“Let’s work together to build a workforce that’s adaptable, innovative, and equipped to drive economic growth,” he said.

The interim executives named for the Sunyani Chapter are Elijah Ofori Badu (Chairman), Juliet A. Benewaa (Vice Chairman), Kate Afram (Secretary/Centre Coordinator), Nicolas Oppong (Public Relations Officer), Bright Ampofo (Organiser/Head of Programme) and Sylvia Nartey (Treasurer).

Dr Eduku advised the interim team to lead with integrity and empathy and commended Precious Gyau for his collaborative effort in bringing CIHRM to the Bono Region.

The Sunyani Chapter is expected to strengthen HR standards, support workforce upskilling and contribute to Ghana’s broader economic transformation.
