Zito Blames Kotoko Players After 2‑0 Loss to Hohoe United

Asante Kotoko suffered a 1‑0 defeat to Hohoe United on Sunday, with coach Abdul Karim Zito blaming his players for the loss.

The hosts took the lead in the 25th minute when William Oduro curled an inch‑perfect free‑kick past the Kotoko goalkeeper. Kotoko never recovered, and the Porcupine Warriors finished the match without a reply.

“I am disappointed in my boys, especially the first half performance, because I warned them not to sit down for Hohoe United to take the lead before we try to come back into the game. So I would say we were tactically indisciplined,” Zito said after the final whistle.

In the second half the side improved, but Zito added that scoring remained a problem: “In the second half, we came into the game and played well, but to put the ball into the net was another issue. That is our main problem this year.”

Kotoko have scored fourteen goals in thirteen league matches this season, averaging just about a goal per game. Their tally is only bettered by Karela United (fifteen), Heart of Lions (seventeen) and league leaders Medeama SC (nineteen).

The defeat leaves Kotoko in fifth place with twenty‑one points, five points behind champions Medeama SC.

Looking ahead, Zito’s side will host Dreams FC on Sunday, 14 December 2025, in what could be a pivotal match to regain momentum in the Ghana Premier League.
