Singer Susan Boyle has expressed her delight after Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet named her among his British heroes.
Chalamet, known for his roles in films like ‘Dune’ and ‘Call Me By Your Name’, identified Boyle alongside sporting legend Lewis Hamilton, the iconic David and Victoria Beckham, and rapper Fakemink, as some of the greatest Britons.
Speaking to BBC News while promoting his new movie, ‘Marty Supreme’, Chalamet highlighted Boyle’s 2009 ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ performance of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ as particularly impactful. “She dreamt bigger than all of us,” he said. “Who wasn’t moved by that?”
Boyle, responding to the gesture, said she was “very flattered”. “Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me,” she added.
The Scottish singer encouraged others to pursue their dreams, stating: “We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big!”
She continued, sending well wishes to Chalamet: “I wish you every success as you continue to dream your own dream. Thank you for your kindness and for remembering that moment so fondly. With love, Susan.”
Chalamet’s ‘Marty Supreme’ promotional campaign involves gifting branded jackets to individuals he considers cultural or sporting icons. Previous recipients include singer Frank Ocean, NFL player Tom Brady, and football star Lamine Yamal.
Boyle’s inclusion was described as an “unlikely choice” during the BBC interview with entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson, especially given Chalamet was only 13 when she rose to fame.
“I remember that like it was yesterday,” Chalamet reflected, adding, “That was like the advent of YouTube, you know.”
