Accra – Reverend Daniel Annan, Resident Pastor of the Universal Gospel Church, has ignited debate with his assertion that prioritizing marriage is crucial for a fulfilling life and a peaceful death.
Rev. Annan made the statement during a discussion on Joy Prime’s ‘Let’s Talk’ program, hosted by Asieduwaa Akumia, which centered on the significance of a married man’s grief following the loss of his wife.
“Marriage is God’s ideal, and it’s God’s idea. So, if you want to live on this planet well and die successfully, marry,” he stated emphatically.
He explained that the concept of marriage predates sin, highlighting its fundamental spiritual importance. Rev. Annan strongly condemned extramarital affairs, labeling them as illegitimate and a threat to the sanctity of marriage, urging individuals to remain committed to their spouses.
However, the pastor offered a message of hope, adding, “Even if your motive in getting into the relationship was wrong, there’s always fine-tuning through God to bring you back in line.”
Rev. Annan further encouraged the public to formalize their relationships through legal marriage, rather than accepting informal arrangements. He believes that couples actively pursuing marriage can receive divine blessings for a stronger union.
Also contributing to the conversation, Counselling Psychologist and ADR Practitioner, Counselor Perfect, emphasized that grief is a deeply personal experience. She stressed the importance of sensitivity and compassion when supporting individuals navigating loss, acknowledging that everyone processes grief differently.
Counselor Perfect also advised women to prioritize self-respect and mutual support, cautioning against involvement with married men. “Whatever you do to others will be done to you,” she warned.
