Technical Advisor for the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Betty Krosby-Mensah, has voiced strong confidence in the Black Stars’ prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite facing a challenging group.
The draw, held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, United States, placed Ghana in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
While some football enthusiasts have expressed doubts, referencing the team’s group-stage exit in the 2022 tournament, Krosby-Mensah believes the current squad possesses the quality to excel.
“We’re well prepared to face any team like Brazil or Spain, and we are not worried or disturbed,” she stated.
Addressing the specific challenge of their group, Krosby-Mensah added, “Looking at Ghana’s group, we are not afraid of England, Croatia, and Panama.”
“I’m very confident that this World Cup will favour Ghana because we are not just participating, but proving that we have the talent and the men to deliver,” she emphasized.
The 2026 tournament will mark Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance, having first qualified for the competition in Germany in 2006. The Black Stars will be aiming to surpass their best performance to date – a quarterfinal run in the 2010 edition.
Under the guidance of coach Otto Addo, the team will begin their campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17. They will then face England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
The 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup will be the largest in history, featuring 48 nations and being jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
