Accra is set to host a dazzling display of Ghanaian fashion as award-winning designer Yolanda (Yoli) Koomson unveils her highly anticipated Daakye Holiday Collection on Saturday, December 14th, at the Kempinski Galleria SLW.

The collection, whose name ‘Daakye’ translates to ‘That Which Is To Come’ in Akan, embodies a celebration of heritage and a forward-looking vision for African craftsmanship, Koomson explained.

Drawing inspiration from the resilient raffia palm, the Creative Director has crafted a collection that highlights the plant’s utility, artistry, and generational symbolism. The designs seamlessly blend traditional elements with modern architectural aesthetics.

“Daakye reflects our commitment to honouring heritage while imagining the future of African craftsmanship,” Koomson stated.

The colour palette is deeply rooted in the earthy tones and understated elegance of raffia, while the silhouettes feature a captivating interplay between sculptural structure and fluid draping – a visual representation of the connection between memory and progress.

Fashion enthusiasts can look forward to key pieces such as the Architectural Blazer, the Draped Gown, and Sculptural Trousers, alongside striking separates adorned with intricate metallic thread embroidery.

The fashion show promises an immersive experience, inviting attendees to witness a vision of tomorrow skillfully woven with the wisdom of yesterday.
