The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with the robbery and death of a 28-year-old woman, Silver Ngozi, at Asokore Mampong near Kumasi.

Farouk Iddris, 20, a motorbike mechanic and rider, and Salim Mohammed, 19, also a motorbike mechanic and rickshaw rider, were arrested on December 12, 2025, at about 9:00 pm at their hideout in Aboabo, Kumasi, following intelligence-led operations.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Arthur Osei Akoto, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects robbed the deceased before allegedly stabbing her with a knife.

“The suspects admitted to committing the robbery during interrogation,” DCOP Akoto disclosed at a press briefing. “Salim Mohammed, who was the pillion rider, identified a zigzag-edged knife as the weapon used in the stabbing.”

A search of Farouk Iddris’s room yielded a machete, several knives, and other offensive weapons.

In a related development, the police have also arrested three individuals – Abdul Fatawu, alias “UN,” 22; Philip Nyarko, alias “Kawawa,” 24; and Samak Hadi, alias “Toronto,” 21 – for their involvement in a series of street robberies in areas including Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kenyasi, and Ayeduase.

Police recovered 59 iPhones, six Android phones, four tablets, and five laptops from their hideout in Aboabo. All three have confessed to the crimes.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command is appealing to members of the public who may have been victims of these robberies to come forward and assist with investigations. DCOP Akoto reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the region, urging continued public support in the fight against crime.

An iPhone 11 Pro belonging to the deceased has also been retrieved and will be used as evidence in the case.
