In a move poised to significantly bolster Ghana’s burgeoning digital economy, Telecel Group has made a substantial investment in the nation’s youth through its Startocode program. This initiative, forged in partnership with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, directly aligns with President John Mahama’s ambitious One Million Coders Program (OMCP). The collaboration aims to provide crucial *digital skills training* to a vast segment of the population. Telecel’s commitment promises to revolutionize *digital education* in Ghana, empowering its youth and fortifying the nation’s economic prospects. With accessible coding education at its core and seamless integration with the OMCP, the *Startocode* program is strategically positioned to make a lasting impact.

Startocode, a *digital education* platform developed by Telecel Group, aims to provide affordable and accessible coding education. The platform targets students worldwide, with a focus on Africa. It offers flexible, self-paced learning, and mentorship opportunities. The hands-on projects are designed to be engaging. Multilingual capabilities aim to overcome language barriers and reach a diverse student base. Telecel is providing Startocode free of charge to Ghanaians who enroll in the One Million Coders Program (OMCP), supporting the OMCP’s goal to equip one million Ghanaians with essential *digital skills*. The program aims to reach thousands of students, including those in underserved and rural areas.

“By providing Startocode free of charge to a significant number of Ghanaians who enrol in OMCP, we are proud to support this national effort to empower the youth with vital digital skills that will transform lives and strengthen Ghana’s economy,” said Moh Damush, Group CEO of Telecel Group.

Launched by President Mahama in April 2025, the One Million Coders Program (OMCP) is striving to equip one million Ghanaians with essential *digital skills* to meet the demands of the 21st-century economy. Telecel’s Startocode supports the OMCP’s goals by enabling large-scale education and training while maintaining standards and expanding access to digital education, particularly in underserved communities.

“The One Million Coders Program is not just about teaching code – it’s about unlocking potential, fostering innovation, and creating pathways to sustainable livelihoods for our youth across the country,” says the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation.

The partnership between *Telecel* Group and the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations aims to ensure no Ghanaian is left behind in the digital era. By integrating *Startocode* into the OMCP, the initiative seeks to make *digital education* accessible to all, building a resilient, future-ready digital economy.

Telecel’s investment in Ghana through the *Startocode* program and partnership with the OMCP is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and empowering the nation’s youth. This initiative will equip Ghanaians with the *digital skills* necessary to thrive in the modern economy. Telecel’s commitment to sustainable development through *digital education* positions Ghana for a future where technology drives innovation and opportunity for all.
