Techiman Police Arrest 3 in Drug Crackdown

The Techiman Police have apprehended three individuals in a targeted operation against suspected drug activity in the Bono East Region on Thursday.

The arrests occurred in the Twimea community, where Godfred Yeboah, 28, Mahama Majeed, 30, and Emmanuel Osei, 30, were taken into custody. Police recovered a wrapper containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp during the swoop.

A subsequent operation was launched in the nearby Aworano community, known locally as a hotspot for such activities. However, authorities report that suspects fled the area before the police arrived.

“Upon reaching Aworano, the suspects had been alerted and managed to escape,” a police source stated. “However, we took decisive action to disable the location used for these activities.”

The police team destroyed a structure in Aworano believed to be used for drug-related purposes. Leftover residue of a dried substance, also suspected to be Indian hemp, was collected as evidence.

All recovered exhibits from both Twimea and Aworano are currently in police custody. The three suspects arrested in Twimea are being held for further investigation.

This operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Techiman Police to curb drug trafficking and consumption in the region. Authorities are appealing to the public for continued support and timely information to aid in these initiatives.
