A Supreme Court Judge, Justice H.L. Akaa Boafo, has urged pastors in Ghana to familiarize themselves with the 1992 Constitution to ensure their ministry operates within the bounds of the law.
Justice Akaa Boafo, who is also a Deacon of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, made the call during the inaugural Empowered Ministers Conference in Kumasi. The conference, held at the Light House Assembly of God, drew approximately 1,200 pastors, their spouses, and church leaders from the Ashanti North, Ashanti East, and Ashanti West Regions.
The three-day event addressed a diverse range of topics crucial for modern ministry, including the relationship between the church and the law, effective conflict resolution strategies, branding techniques for church growth, and the significance of dedicated prayer. Other areas covered were critical management skills, sound church financial practices, the impact of pastoral marriage on ministry, and the importance of loyalty within church organizations.
Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, emphasized the need for professionalism among pastors. “We must adopt best practices and strive for excellence in everything we do,” he stated, adding that church leaders should prioritize the holistic well-being and economic empowerment of their congregations.
The conference also featured contributions from other key figures within the Assemblies of God, including Rev. Tito Agyei, Assistant General Superintendent; Rev. Ernest Birikorang, General Secretary; and Rev. Simon Abu Baba, General Treasurer. These leaders shared insights and expertise aimed at equipping pastors for effective leadership and ministry.
