Accra is set to host a solo exhibition of works by renowned Ghanaian artist, Sami Bentil, at the PeakArt Gallery in Awudome Estate from December 13 to December 30, 2025.
Bentil, celebrated in art circles for his powerful Pan-Africanist expressions, has exhibited his art across the globe, including Africa, Europe, North and South America, and Asia.
The artist explains his motivation, stating, “In my paintings, I celebrate the inherent majestic splendour, the spiritual, as well as the educational function of traditional Ghanaian symbolism and imagery in the preservation of Africa’s cultural uniqueness and identity.”
The exhibition, titled ‘The Only Dance There Is’, will feature paintings created over decades. These works explore Ghana and Africa’s rich cultural heritage alongside universal human experiences.
Bentil, a graduate of Graphic Design from the University of Science and Technology, also received training from the legendary Kofi Antubam at Achimota School. He believes his deep understanding of Akan traditions, combined with his skill in pointillism, creates art that resonates with viewers on an emotional level.
“It’s about drawing people in, giving them that same uplifting feeling they get from listening to their favourite songs,” he explained.
Kojo Danku, PeakArt Gallery Manager, described the exhibition as a unique opportunity to witness Bentil’s artistic vision. “The exhibition traces the evolution of an artist who has remained steadfastly committed to celebrating African culture while promoting universal human connection,” Danku stated. The opening is scheduled for 4:00 pm on December 13th.
‘Images of Good Fortune’ promises to be a captivating showcase of Bentil’s talent and a celebration of African artistry.
