Ghanaian Educator and Columnist I.K. Gyasi Dies

I.K. Gyasi, a renowned Ghanaian educationist and former headmaster of T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (AMASS) in Kumasi, has passed away at the age of 87.

Mr. Gyasi was a prolific newspaper columnist who authored the ‘Bluntly Speaking’ column in The Chronicle newspaper for over 20 years. He retired from his column in August 2016 at the age of 80 after 50 years in the media industry.

During his tenure as a columnist, he shared sharp insights on education and other national issues. As a former headmaster of his alma mater, T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Kumasi, he served from 1990 to 1998.

Mr. Gyasi was an honorary member of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), which celebrated him for his contributions to the media in 2023. He was also an English language tutor and author of educational books.

The veteran educator is celebrated for his deep involvement with AMASS, serving as a teacher and later the first former student to become Headmaster. He taught English and served T.I. AMASS for many years.
