A coordinated police operation in the Bono East Region on Thursday, December 18, led to the arrest of three individuals and the disruption of suspected drug activity in the Twimea and Aworano communities.

In Twimea, police apprehended Godfred Yeboah, 28, Mahama Majeed, 30, and Emmanuel Osei, 30, during a targeted swoop. A wrapper containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was recovered from the scene, police reports indicate.

The operation then extended to Aworano, a community described by authorities as a known hotspot for such activities. However, upon arrival, the suspects reportedly fled, having been alerted to the police presence.

“Upon reaching Aworano, the suspects had been alerted and managed to escape. However, we took decisive action to disable the location used for these activities,” a police source stated.

Acting swiftly, the police team destroyed a structure used for the alleged drug activities in Aworano. Leftover residue of a dried substance, also suspected to be Indian hemp, was collected as evidence.

All recovered exhibits from both Twimea and Aworano have been retained for further analysis. The three suspects arrested in Twimea remain in police custody while investigations continue.

This operation forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement in the Bono East Region to curb drug trafficking and consumption. Authorities are appealing to the public to provide timely information to assist in these initiatives.
