Young squash talents lit up the 4 Garrison Officers Mess courts on December 5, 2025, as the Patrons Day Junior National tournament crowned champions across five age groups.
The event, hosted by the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Squash Club, brought together budding players from Tema Racket Club, Dohazari Squash Club, Obuasi Squash Club and the host club. Five categories – 6‑8, 9‑10, 11‑12, 13‑14 and 15‑16 years – competed over a single day of intense rallying.
In the youngest 6‑8 division, Swain Nana Adom Adjei of Tema Racket Club outclassed Kwabena Boateng of 4 Garrison with an 11‑3 victory. “I felt the crowd’s energy and just kept my focus on the ball,” the ten‑year‑old said after the final.
The 9‑10 age group was fiercely contested, ending with Kwabena securing the title by defeating Awl Jnr 11‑3. Nana Yaw Appiah claimed third place. “The matches were fast and I stayed calm throughout,” Kwabena explained.
In the highly anticipated 11‑12 category, long‑time rivals Stanley Kwasi Oware (Tema Racket Club) and Frank Donkor Jnr (4 Garrison) met again. Oware clinched the championship with a straight‑sets 2‑0 win. “It was a great battle, and I’m happy to finally settle the score,” Oware said.
Third place went to Kwadwo Dekyi, whose composure earned him the Most Promising Player award. He received a brand‑new racket and souvenirs from Infinix. “We are proud to support Ghana’s next squash stars,” said Ama Mensah, Marketing Lead, Infinix Ghana.
In the 13‑14 division, Walter Amo Antwi of 4 Garrison displayed complete control to defeat Aiden Amo Antwi and Bryan Nii Boi, securing the top spot.
The senior 15‑16 bracket featured a grudge match between Prince Agyemang (4 Garrison) and Abdul Rahim (Obuasi). Prince’s experience and power carried him to a well‑deserved victory, closing the tournament on a high note for the hosts.
Champions received new rackets, trophies and souvenir packages from Infinix; runners‑up earned trophies and Infinix packs, while every participant walked away with gifts. Patrons Frank Donkor, Vice President Frank Osei Denero, Justice Francis Kwoffie and Lt Evans Adu Danso presented the awards. “Seeing our youth excel reaffirms our commitment to squash development,” said Frank Donkor.
The tournament was sponsored by Infinix Phones, Abofra World School (Kumasi), GeoPlas Ghana, Essence Work Ready, Vytal Digital and the Grange Squash Club of Scotland. Their continued investment promises more training opportunities and a brighter future for squash across Ghana.
