Olam Food Ingredients (ofi) Ghana Limited has been awarded the Outstanding Agribusiness award in the Gold category at the 33rd and 34th Presidents National Awards for Export Achievement.
The recognition highlights ofi Ghana’s exceptional performance in cashew exports and its significant contribution to the nation’s agribusiness sector in 2023. The company’s efforts in promoting non-traditional exports, supporting farmers, and driving economic growth were key factors in the decision.
The awards ceremony, held at the Accra International Conference Centre’s Grande Arena, was organised by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) under the theme “Building a Resilient Export Economy for Tomorrow.” GEPA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur Esq, stressed the vital role exporters play in strengthening Ghana’s economic resilience and boosting foreign exchange earnings.
The event saw attendance from high-profile figures including H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, and Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, alongside senior government officials and key stakeholders.
In his address as the guest of honour, President Mahama lauded the award winners for their dedication to national development. He emphasised that while traditional exports like gold and oil are important, a sustainable economic future relies on diversifying into non-traditional exports, particularly in agriculture and value-added products.
Raphael Yussif Amankwa, General Manager of ofi’s cashew business, attributed the success to strong collaboration. “This award recognises the collective effort of our farmers, field teams, and partners,” he said. “Our focus remains on maintaining quality and supporting sustainable cashew production that meets global standards while delivering shared value locally.”
Eric Asare Botwe, Senior Vice President and Country Head of ofi Ghana, expressed gratitude for the recognition. “We are grateful for this recognition, which acknowledges our contribution to Ghana’s export agenda and the broader goal of building a resilient export economy,” he stated. “This achievement belongs to our farmers, our cashew team, and all our colleagues whose commitment ensures that Ghanaian produce remains competitive in the global market.”
He further added, “At ofi Ghana, we remain focused on responsible sourcing, operational excellence, and partnerships that create sustainable livelihoods. We thank our regulators, stakeholders, and employees for their continued support, and we take this award as encouragement to keep improving.”
Established in 1989, the Presidents National Awards for Export Achievement honour companies demonstrating excellence in export trade, innovation, and quality, significantly contributing to Ghana’s non-traditional export growth. ofi Ghana’s continued commitment to employment creation, farmer empowerment, community development, and sustainable export growth positions it as a key player in the nation’s agribusiness sector.
