Obuasi robbery arrest suspect Rahman Adams has been apprehended by Ashanti police in connection with both the deadly December 2025 home invasion and subsequent Ghana murder suspect manhunt at Asonkore SSNIT Flats. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the high-profile case that shocked the mining community.

Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwasi Akomeah confirmed that Adams, popularly known as Wale, was arrested on January 18, 2026, through an intelligence-led operation at Pomposo. The 34-year-old is believed to be part of the gang responsible for the violent December 12 incident that claimed a miner’s life.

The Asonkore crime news originates from a brutal residential attack where assailants severed burglar-proof windows to access the victim’s home. The 42-year-old miner, whose identity remains withheld pending family notifications, succumbed to severe injuries after confronting the intruders during the nighttime robbery operation.

Investigators revealed the criminals made away with GH₵2,600 in cash, a laptop computer, and vehicle ignition keys after assaulting occupants. Security analysts describe the modus operandi as characteristic of organized robbery gangs operating in gold-rich communities.

“This arrest demonstrates our relentless pursuit of justice in violent crimes,” police spokesperson ASP Godwin Ahianyo stated while addressing media at the Obuasi Divisional Headquarters. He confirmed two accomplices remain at large including an individual identified only as A.T. and a Nigerian national suspected of orchestrating the break-in.

Authorities recovered hammers, machetes, and metal cutters from the crime scene – tools forensic experts say were used to compromise the property’s security. The deceased miner’s body was transferred to Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary where pathologists conducted toxicology and ballistic examinations.

Forensic analysis confirmed the burglars used industrial-grade cutters to penetrate the reinforced window, suggesting significant premeditation. Officers determined the assailants specifically targeted cash holdings and valuables belonging to miners in the gold-rich community. Among items stolen were GH¢2,600 in operational funds, a company-issued laptop containing sensitive mining data, and ignition keys to the victim’s Toyota Hilux pickup.

The weapons cache recovered – including two bloodstained machetes, a claw hammer, and bolt cutters – provided critical DNA evidence linking Adams to the assault. Criminal Investigations Director Superintendent Osei Kuffour confirmed “forensic matching directly ties these implements to injuries sustained by the deceased and biological evidence at the crime scene.”

Pathologists at Obuasi Government Hospital concluded the miner suffered multiple deep machete wounds to the torso and defensive injuries to his hands, indicating prolonged resistance during the attack. Toxicology reports revealed no substances in his system that might have impaired responsiveness to the violent assault.

Authorities are intensifying manhunts for fugitive Ghana murder suspect A.T., believed to be the alleged getaway driver, and his Nigerian counterpart suspected of orchestrating the burglary. Ashanti Regional Police have activated cross-border tracking protocols through Interpol’s Accra bureau, monitoring suspected escape routes toward neighboring Togo.

“Adams continues cooperating with interrogators, providing actionable intelligence about his accomplices’ networks,” Regional Police Commander DCOP Akomeah disclosed during a community security briefing. Local residents have applauded the arrest but demanded increased patrols in mining residential zones.

Police assured the public of “relentless pursuit until all involved face the full rigors of Ghana’s judicial system,” with prosecutors preparing multiple charges including murder, aggravated robbery, and unlawful entry. The evolving Obuasi robbery arrest resolution demonstrates law enforcement’s commitment to deploying intelligence-led strategies against violent crimes in mining communities.
