The Chief Executive Officer of Obuasi Bitters and Head of Aduro Yɛ Herbal Centre, Dr. Collins Amo, has donated essential items to over 1000 widows and less privileged individuals in Obuasi, reaffirming his commitment to social responsibility.
The donation, coupled with a free feeding exercise, created a festive atmosphere for the beneficiaries. Each person received six yards of cloth, a live chicken, and five kilograms of rice, intended to provide support as they prepare for the Christmas season.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Amo, known for his philanthropic work, stated the initiative was a way of giving back to the community, especially to those most in need during the holidays. “As a company, we are committed to investing in our communities through meaningful corporate social responsibility initiatives. We are not only focused on profits but are equally dedicated to giving back to society,” he emphasised.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to prioritize post-retirement planning and savings to supplement their pension income. Dr. Amo also appealed to the government to review and potentially increase SSNIT contributions, acknowledging the economic hardships faced by many retirees.
Madam Grace Anokyewaa, a beneficiary, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Some of us struggle daily because of our circumstances, but Dr. Amo has always come through for us. We are truly grateful for his continued support.”
The gesture has been widely welcomed by the community as a timely intervention to alleviate the burdens of vulnerable individuals during the Christmas festivities.
