Frontline Officer Gerald Yakubu Andan, a veteran of the Ghana Police Service, died on Saturday, 7 December 2025, after a brief illness, according to the Police Headquarters in Accra.
Andan, 58, joined the force in 1992 and rose through the ranks to become a respected Frontline Officer in the Greater Accra Region. Colleagues praised his dedication to community policing and his mentorship of younger officers.
“He was a pillar of integrity and compassion,” said Superintendent Kwame Mensah, the Division Commander. “His commitment to public safety left an indelible mark on the communities he served.”
The family confirmed that Andan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Aisha Andan, and three children aged twelve, fifteen and twenty‑one. A private funeral will be held on Tuesday, 10 December, at the Ablekuma Cemetery, with a public memorial scheduled for the following weekend.
The Ghana Police Service announced that all officers will observe a moment of silence at the start of the next shift in his honour. The Service also vowed to uphold Andan’s legacy by continuing his community‑focused initiatives.
Further details about the memorial service will be released by the Police Public Relations Office in the coming days.
