Abdulai Sakra Alhassan, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Team member, has praised the current administration’s fiscal discipline for stabilizing Ghana’s economy, citing reduced inflation to single digits during a January 2 JoyNews AM Show appearance.
The NDC communicator credited Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson’s leadership for the economic turnaround, noting: “Prudent economic management has played a key role in stabilising the economy over the past year.” Inflation has reportedly dropped to single-digit levels after the government exercised restraint in public spending.
Alhassan highlighted significant port reforms requiring importers to present valid documentation before transactions, after investigations revealed over $80 million had previously been transferred abroad improperly. “These gains didn’t happen by chance,” he maintained, attributing progress to President John Mahama’s “deliberate leadership decisions” on economic policy.
The communication team member stressed that while anti-leakage laws existed previously, stricter enforcement under the current administration has restored system confidence. “Achieving such reforms requires discipline and integrity,” he concluded, emphasizing fiscal accountability as central to Ghana’s continued recovery.
