The 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has appealed for unity within the party, urging members to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPP prepares for the 2028 elections.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, emphasized that the NPP’s historical successes have always been rooted in unity and unwavering loyalty, even in the face of electoral defeats.
He recounted instances where party members steadfastly supported former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo through challenging periods, ultimately leading to victory.
“Just as the New Patriotic Party united behind the elephant and stood firmly with Presidents Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, regardless of earlier defeats, let us do the same by rallying behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to take our party forward and secure power in 2028,” Dr Opoku Prempeh stated.
According to Dr. Opoku Prempeh, Dr. Bawumia possesses the necessary leadership qualities, extensive government experience, and a clear vision for Ghana’s future, providing a solid base for the party’s rebuilding efforts and reconnection with voters.
He highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s central role in the NPP’s reorganization and the development of its future strategies as the 2024 Presidential Candidate.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh implored party members to overcome internal divisions and concentrate on strengthening the NPP’s structures at all levels, asserting that unity, discipline, and collective action are crucial for regaining power.
“When we stand together and remain committed to our values, the NPP has always emerged stronger,” he added.
