Former State Transport Company (STC) Managing Director, Nana Akomea, has vehemently denied claims that he sold off company land during his tenure, labeling the allegations as false and politically motivated.
Speaking on Citi FM on Monday, December 8, 2025, Mr. Akomea stated unequivocally that no STC property was disposed of under his leadership. He accused those making the claims of spreading misinformation.
According to Mr. Akomea, it was the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration that engaged in the sale of STC lands, citing financial difficulties the company faced at the time.
He specifically recalled the sale of approximately four acres of STC land in Takoradi to Melcom around 2010. Mr. Akomea also pointed out that the official residence of the Managing Director at Ridge was sold off prior to his appointment, forcing him to find alternative accommodation.
“They are accusing the wrong person. The only government that sold STC land was the NDC. They offloaded about four acres in Takoradi to Melcom. They even sold the MD’s bungalow at Ridge, so when I became MD, I had to find my own place,” Akomea explained. “I haven’t sold even a single foot of STC land.”
He further added that a separate portion of land near the STC headquarters was sold to a company named BCL well before he assumed office.
Mr. Akomea maintained that the accusations leveled against him were misleading and urged the public to resist politically driven narratives.
