Roads Ministry opens diversion on Ofankor‑Nsawam for asphalt

Local News

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has ordered the N6 dual carriageway between Ofankor and White House to be closed from Monday 8 December to Sunday 14 December 2025 for essential asphalt works.

The seven‑day shutdown will allow contractors to lay a fresh asphalt layer on a two‑kilometre stretch of the Ofankor‑Nsawam road, a key segment of the ongoing dual‑carriageway rehabilitation.

Enabling works completed at Ofankor over the weekend required a temporary shutdown on Saturday night, and the upcoming closure marks the next phase of the project, officials said.

During the period, motorists will be diverted onto the service road from the Ofankor overpass to White House. Directional signs will be installed along the corridor and drivers are urged to follow the guidance to avoid congestion and ensure safety.

“We appreciate the public’s cooperation during this temporary closure and regret any inconvenience caused,” a ministry spokesperson stated.

The notice also thanked road users for their support during the earlier closure of the Neoplan‑White House segment on 6 December 2025 and appealed for continued patience.

The Ofankor‑Nsawam road project is a flagship highway rehabilitation initiative aimed at improving mobility, cutting travel time and boosting commercial activity along the busy Accra‑Kumasi corridor.

Motorists are encouraged to stay updated on traffic advisories as the works progress, with the Ministry pledging to restore full traffic flow once the asphalt curing is complete.
