Medeama SC overturned a first‑half deficit to beat Berekum Chelsea 2‑1 in Tarkwa on Sunday, thanks to tactical changes made by coach Ibrahim Tanko.
Tanko explained that the team controlled the first half, winning duels and creating chances, but failed to convert, and admitted the opening goal resulted from a defensive lapse.
“We controlled the game in the first half. We won many duels and second balls, created chances, but unfortunately we could not score. The goal against us was also a result of our mistake,” Tanko said after the match.
When Medeama trailed early in the second half, Tanko introduced left‑back Fatawu Sulemana, returning from injury, for Paul Yeboah, and swapped forward Kelvin Nkrumah with Kingsley Braye.
The changes sparked a revival. Mid‑way through the half, Amo Mensah headed home the equaliser, and a few minutes later Salim Adams struck a long‑range winner to settle the contest.
“In the second half we spoke to the players and made two changes. I think the team responded well to the changes we made and we deservedly got the goals,” Tanko concluded.
With the victory, Medeama moved two points clear at the top of the Ghana Premier League, sitting on twenty‑six points.
The league leaders travel to Bibiani next week to face defending champions Gold Stars, a match that could further cement their title charge.
