Former President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to receive the final report on the Bawku peace mediation process this Thursday, December 11, 2025, at a ceremony to be held at the Jubilee House.

The presentation signifies a crucial advancement in the ongoing national efforts to resolve the protracted tensions in Bawku and its surrounding communities.

The report is the culmination of months of dedicated mediation spearheaded by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, whose leadership has been pivotal to the broader national reconciliation agenda.

According to officials, the ceremony will highlight the collective commitment of traditional leaders, government institutions, civil society organizations, and international partners to fostering lasting unity and stability in the historically volatile area.

The event is expected to commence at 10:00 a.m. and will be attended by senior government officials, members of the mediation committee, and distinguished guests.

Key traditional authorities and stakeholders involved in the peace initiatives are also anticipated to be present. Institutions invited to the presentation include the National Peace Council, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Office of the National Chief Imam, the Catholic Secretariat, the UNDP, the British High Commission, and representatives from the Upper East and North East regions, as well as the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs and National Security personnel.

“This report represents a significant milestone in our quest for peace in Bawku,” a source close to the mediation committee stated. “We are hopeful that its recommendations will be implemented swiftly to address the root causes of the conflict and prevent future outbreaks of violence.”

The successful completion of the mediation process and the presentation of the report are seen as positive steps towards a peaceful resolution of the Bawku conflict, which has spanned decades and claimed numerous lives.
