Rev. Daniel Annan Emphasizes Love Beyond Intimacy in Marriage

Love in marriage is far more than just sexual intimacy, according to Rev. Daniel Annan, Resident Pastor of the Universal Gospel Center.

Rev. Annan emphasized the importance of affection, communication, and intentional care in building a strong marital bond. He made these remarks on Joy Prime’s ‘The Relationship Show,’ hosted by Asieduwaa Akumia, while discussing a case of a woman feeling unappreciated in her marriage due to a lack of gifts from her husband.

“Love is not solely about sex,” Rev. Annan stated. He further explained that a healthy marriage requires mutual understanding and respect, alongside genuine affection.

Effective communication, he stressed, is the cornerstone of a thriving marriage. “Open discussions help partners understand each other’s opinions and grow together. When couples communicate effectively, things become easier and smoother in the marriage,” he explained.

Rev. Annan highlighted affection as particularly crucial for women, stating, “What every woman needs is affection.”

He detailed that affection encompasses a husband’s presence, physical touch, deliberate affirmations, and, importantly, gift-giving. “That is the language of affection a woman understands,” he noted.

While acknowledging that affection can sometimes lead to intimacy, Rev. Annan clarified that it isn’t the primary measure of love.

“These expressions make the woman feel comfortable, give her a sense of belonging, and leave her satisfied knowing she has a husband who truly sees her,” Rev. Annan concluded, underscoring the emotional needs within a marriage.
