Lightwave eHealth Questions NHIA Audit Over GH₵10.45 million

Lightwave eHealth Solutions’ project coordinator, Eric Adjei, alleges irregularities in a National Health Insurance Authority audit, claiming a competitor was used and GH₵10.45 million was redirected to the auditing firm.

Speaking on the JoyNews AM Show, Adjei suggested the issues may stem from personal or institutional conflicts rather than genuine procedural lapses. He said the audit process appeared biased and raised concerns about its impartiality.

“We do not have any problem with any institution going to do an audit or investigation. But again, why do you send a competitor to go do an audit?” he asked, questioning the choice of auditor.

The coordinator disclosed that the GH₵10.45 million initially allocated to Lightwave from NHIA funds was transferred to the auditing institution in 2024. He described the transaction as “surprising” and said only the Minister of Health can clarify its circumstances.

The Ministry of Health has alleged that Lightwave breached a GH₵100 million contract by failing to connect nine‑hundred‑fifty health facilities to the Lightwave Health Information Management System (LHIMS) platform.

Adjei maintains that Lightwave has met its obligations and is confident the redirected funds and audit irregularities point to a deeper, unresolved issue. “There is some form of hidden mystery which I think it is only the minister of health, the current minister of health, that will be able to answer because we’ve done our checks, and everything points to one particular direction,” he said.

Lightwave eHealth Solutions has been a key partner in Ghana’s digital health initiatives, aiming to improve efficiency, data management, and service delivery across the country’s healthcare system.

The dispute underscores ongoing challenges in oversight, contract management, and transparency within public‑private partnerships in Ghana’s health sector.
