The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park (KNMP) will be closed to the public for one day, Saturday, December 27, 2025, to allow for essential internal operational activities.
Management announced the temporary closure on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, emphasizing the need for the hiatus to maintain the Park’s high standards.
Dr. Collins R. Nunyonameh, the Acting Executive Director of the KNMP, explained that the shutdown is crucial for internal arrangements to preserve the visitor experience. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause. Your understanding and cooperation are deeply appreciated as we continue to uphold the standards and service experience that the Park is known for,” he stated in a released statement.
The KNMP, inaugurated in 1991 and recently refurbished in 2023, stands as a premier tourist destination, attracting thousands of both local and international visitors annually. The iconic park commemorates the life and legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and a leading figure in the Pan-African movement.
Tour operators and visitors planning to visit the site on December 27th are advised to adjust their schedules accordingly. The Park will reopen to the public on Sunday, December 28, 2025, resuming normal operations, including access to the mausoleum, museum, and Reflection Pools. Regular maintenance and internal reviews are standard practice for heritage sites like the KNMP to ensure their long-term preservation and enhance the quality of presentation.
