Kufuor Hosts Akuapem Rabbi Spiritual Leader

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor received a courtesy call from Okronkronyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh, Spiritual Leader and founder of Asomdwee Ntonton Som (Nkabom), at his Akuapem residence on Wednesday.

The visit provided a platform for discussions on matters of national importance and saw the presentation of a citation to Mr. Kufuor in recognition of his service to the nation.

The citation lauded the former President’s dedication to peace, justice, and national development throughout his eight-year presidency. Presenting the honour, Okronkronyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh highlighted Mr. Kufuor’s impactful leadership.

“Your dedication to peace, justice and the well-being of all Ghanaians reflects the values of compassion and integrity we hold dear,” Okronkronyi Nyame Somafo Yawoh stated. “Your notable achievements, including the establishment of the National Health Insurance Scheme, free maternal healthcare to reduce maternal mortality, and the introduction of the Metro Mass Transit system, continue to impact millions of lives positively.”

He further commended Mr. Kufuor for his role in strengthening Ghana’s democratic institutions, describing his humility, faith, and service as an inspiration.

In response, Mr. Kufuor expressed his gratitude for the recognition and urged religious organizations in Ghana to foster peaceful coexistence and actively contribute to national development.

The former President has also accepted an invitation to attend the Ogyebea Festival, scheduled to take place from December 25, 2025, to January 1, 2026. Organizers anticipate over 40,000 attendees from around the globe.

Asomdwee Ntonton Som (Nkabom) is considered by its followers to be the third major religion in Ghana, after Christianity and Islam. The faith’s central place of worship, a stone edifice known as the Kaaba, is located in Essuehyia Ekumfi Otuam and is a significant spiritual site, attracting both believers and tourists from the diaspora. The religion has a growing following in countries including Saudi Arabia, Germany, Pakistan, and Israel.
