Mohammed Kudus: Ghana ready for England at 2026 World Cup

Ghana’s Black Stars learned their 2026 World Cup group on Friday in Washington, D.C., where they were drawn into Group L with England, Croatia and Panama, and midfielder Mohammed Kudus said the team will be ready.

The four‑time African champions now face what analysts call one of the toughest groups on paper, pitting the West African side against European heavyweights England and 2022 semifinalists Croatia, alongside CONCACAF representatives Panama.

“To qualify for the World Cup alone is a big statement from us, and it shows what we can do,” Kudus said, reflecting on the draw and Ghana’s successful qualification campaign.

He added, “It’ll be interesting. I’m looking forward to it. We are very much aware of the sides we will be facing. We will definitely be up for it, and we will be ready.”

Ghana hopes to make a significant impact at the expanded 48‑team tournament, aiming to reach the knockout stage for the first time since their 2010 quarter‑final run. The Black Stars are expected to start preparations early, scheduling friendlies and training camps ahead of the tournament’s kickoff in June 2026.

The challenging group will test the squad’s depth and resolve, but fans in Accra and across the country are already buzzing with optimism as the team gears up for what could be a historic campaign.
