Kofi Bentil Names Alban Bagbin as Favourite Speaker of the Fourth Republic

Lawyer and Senior Vice President of IMANI-Africa, Kofi Bentil, has lauded Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, as the most effective presiding officer Ghana has seen since the beginning of the Fourth Republic.

Mr. Bentil commended Mr. Bagbin’s balanced approach to managing parliamentary affairs, specifically highlighting his handling of the recent issues surrounding the Kpandai re-run elections.

According to Mr. Bentil, the Speaker’s leadership demonstrates a strong commitment to parliamentary integrity, procedural clarity, and institutional maturity. “I have said and I repeat, Speaker Bagbin is my favorite Speaker of the whole fourth republic. He takes decisions, he makes moves, he goes into spaces which are controversial…” he stated.

“So for me, that is what makes him my favorite speaker,” he added during his appearance on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, December 20.

Mr. Bentil further explained that the Speaker’s actions consistently set a high standard for legislative governance, thereby strengthening public trust in Parliament as a vital component of Ghana’s democratic system.
